I like to think of mosaics as the art of painting
with glass or tile. I was first drawn to them while studying in Spain. During
my year there, I was afforded the opportunity to visit numerous mosaic masterpieces
throughout Europe. A few years later, I made an independent journey to South America
where I rediscovered my attraction to mosaics. It was upon my return in 1996 that I
started carving out a career for myself as a mosaic artist. It was only when I began
creating mosaics that I gained a true appreciation of the time, effort and talent
necessary for developing these works of art. It is not only their beauty, but their
tactile quality and versatility that keeps me engaged to this day.
Thank you to all of the people who have supported me in my
decision to pursue mosaics. This includes Milton, my parents (all of them, as well
as the Grand), the rest of my family and my great friends who continue to provide the love
and encouragement necessary to any artist.
